Westlaw Training: Thursday

We've got a long day of Westlaw training in store for the 1Ls on Thursday, November 1. John Street, our Westlaw trainer, will be running hour-long 1L classes from 8 am to 5 pm in the Library Seminar Room. Sign up for a slot at the Circulation Desk.

Lexis Training: Monday & Tuesday

Scott Hite from LexisNexis will be at ASL for 1L Legal Process training on Monday, October 29, and Tuesday, October 30. All LP students (except for Grant's LP section 3) must sign up for a slot at the Circulation Desk. The class will last about an hour in the Library Seminar Room, and will be repeated several times over the two-day span.

Lexis Training: Thursday, October 18

On Thursday, October 18, Scott Hite from LexisNexis arrives on campus to help you with job searches and finding information about law firms. The class will be held from 3 - 4 pm in the Library Seminar Room; there is a signup sheet available at the Circulation Desk.

Scott will also be interviewing for the LexisNexis Associate (student representative) position. Check with Chris King to find out more about the process.

1L students in Grant's LP class will also have training from 1 - 2 pm. All other 1L students will get Lexis training later this month.

Westlaw Training: Thursday, October 11

If you need help finding a job, or perhaps need assistance finding information about a law firm that's going to interview you, why not do a little research with Westlaw? On Thursday, October 11, John Street from Westlaw will be on campus showing you some tips and tricks on using Westlaw to find prospective employment. Since space in our Seminar Room is limited, he will be offering the class four times in thirty-minute increments (3 - 3:30 pm, 3:30 - 4 pm, 4 - 4:30 pm, and 4:30 - 5 pm). 1L students in Grant's LP class will also have training from 1 - 2 pm. All other 1L students will get Westlaw training later in the year.

First Monday: New Supreme Court Term Begins

The First Monday in October is the traditional start of a new term of the US Supreme Court. As we mentioned in this month's ASL Library News (which is available online), the justices will be tackling a number of controversial issues. Follow all the action on the High Court's own web site at http://www.supremecourtus.gov/. You might also be interested in US Law Week, which details all the cases filed, the oral arguments, and the opinions when they are released. Our paper copy is on Reserve; ASL faculty and staff may also view electronic copies while on campus by using BNA All.
